Course overview

Learn how to get the best out of your staffby developing their skills and behaviors through coaching. This is a highly participative and practical course designed to provide Managers with hands-on coaching tools and skills which will tremendously help them to develop, engage and retain their staff. While coachingwill be the focus of the training program, participants will also understand the differences between coaching and other management styles such as? directing and delegating and learn when and how to apply them.

1. get a thorough understanding of how coaching works in a professional business environment and how it can successfully improve individual and organizational performance;
2. understand why coaching is an effective and very successful method for managers to develop, engage and retain their staff

1. understand the differences between coaching and other management styles e.g. directing and delegating and when it is the right time to apply coaching;
2. go away with a very effective and hands-on framework of a set of management styles and tools they can apply right away back in their workplace;
3. get to know how to give and receive feedback through productive conversations and feed-back discussions;
4. will learn “What to say” and “How to say it” when providing feedback to their Staff;

Introduction and objectives

What is coaching all about?
Why is coaching so effective and why can it be especially critical for Chinese staff? What is coaching and what is coaching not?

Coaching as one managerial style
What are the advantages of coaching compared to other managerial styles such as directing and delegating? Why is coaching so important? When to apply coaching and when to apply the other managerial styles such as directing and delegating – finding the right opportunities? How to apply all these styles such as directing, coaching and delegating – doing it the right way?

Effective and hands-on coaching frameworks and models (including GROW-model)
Introduction, role plays and practical exercises of coaching frameworks, techniques and models for:
1. Building rapport and trust
2. Setting smart objectives
3. Giving on the job coaching
4. Regular one-to-one’s
5. Performance meetings

How to give motivational feedback
Introduction, role plays and practical exercises of how to give constructive and helpful feedback. How to deal with performance issues - phrases and statements to use. Identify conversation blockers.

Understanding our people and their motivations
A section dedicated to understanding the world around us. What are the believes, values, behaviours etc. of our people. How to apply it to the working environment for performance improvement.

Close and action planning

The course is fun, inter-active, very hands-on and practical blending the different learning techniques such as lecturing, case studies, group discussions, exercises, feedback and sharing.

Ongoing Email Support:
After the training, the participants can email the trainer at anytime for help or guidance. They might be implementing some techniques that they have discovered on the program and want some tips on how to implement it for their specific situation.
Whatever the reason, the trainer is available whenever the participants need her.

Dr. Rehfeld

 

 

 

Dr. Rehfeld is an HR expert having extensive experience in the field of training and organizational development of multi-national organizations in China. Having worked in China for more than six years, she specializes in leadership development, training, coaching and talent management including identifying, assessing, developing and retaining talents. In the area of coaching, Dr. Rehfeld focuses on executive and life coaching. The coaching model she adheres enables people to make break through to achieve the goals that are most important to them and the organization they work in. Using a well laid out plan, she is able to help people identify their areas for improvement and create plans for change. Dr. Rehfeld is uniquely qualified to help people, teams and businesses grow and develop in China. She has been consulting small and large corporations in the human resources area especially in the field of talent management, performance management as well as learning & development.
Dr. Rehfeld holds an MA in Political and Economical Science and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Heidelberg (Germany). She is a certified coach holding the ICF NLP coaching certification and is a certified Hogan Assessment practitioner.
